AHO is located in central Oslo with great facilities and inspiring surroundings.
The Oslo School of Architecture & Design is located in the vibrant Grünerløkka district in central Oslo. We are located in an old factory building that has been modernized and rebuilt specifically to allow for creative education and research. Besides the design program, the school also has departments of architecture, landscape design and urbanism. We have approximately 600 students and 120 employees. AHO is a public university institution and does not require a tuition fee.
Our design students experience a rich and comprehensive academic life. Most of our teaching is done through practical development of design projects. Here you learn to work creatively within the constraints of materials, contexts and briefs, and to collaborate with others. Through your projects, lectures and study trips you can meet designers and researchers from many different fields, from all over the world.

Our design education has great facilities for development and prototyping including professional workshops for wood, metal, plastics, electronics and 3D printing. The school has a comprehensive library for design and architecture. We are internationally oriented, with many international speakers, field trips and students from around the world, and we hold regular events and exhibitions. From the fourth year, students have the opportunity to travel for up to two semesters to one of around forty of AHO’s partner institutions.
All AHO’s students are members of the student welfare organisation SiO.
